Alit Heiman – Jewelry Designer

Alit Heiman is an interdisciplinary artist who weaves art, dance and nature into her jewelry.

Nature, an essential part of my life from early childhood, finds expression in the jewelry I create. In addition to my work as a designer, I am a choreographer and dancer, and the pieces of jewelry I create are imbued with movement and flow. This integration is a vital part of the way I conceptual my art, and it finds expression in the courses I teach at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, in which dance, music, and the plastic arts are integrated.

I earned my M.Dance at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, specializing in dance and choreography, as well as an M.A. in Art History at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

For many years, I performed in a dance company, and I have given solo performances at the Suzanne Dellal Centre for Dance and Theatre, in Tel Aviv, as well as at various festivals, earning positive reviews and accolades.

I view my jewelry design as no less of a creation than my dance. I wrote my dissertation on process of creativity, a subject that has always fascinated me and continues to do so.

Creativity is a process that cannot be measured in units of time. It involves the collection of raw materials and their processing, which takes time, before the creative process can begin.

At times, it takes years to generate out of substance an idea that has germinated in my mind. It must be accurate in order to achieve a harmonious piece of jewelry of perfect proportions and immaculate balance. The jewelry created through this process becomes a classic, transcending time, place, and age. Mindfulness and accuracy generate eternal art.

Every piece of jewelry that I design makes a statement and has meaning, singularity, and character – in short, it is one of a kind.

My clientele is varied, encompassing men and women of all ages, all professions and from all over the world.

Art is the connection between people. Through my art, I have the privilege of meeting and connecting with people of all walks of life. Art is multifaceted and has many different layers of depth, and each individual finds a connection to a different piece of jewelry in his or her own way.

My jewelry is authentic, characterized by clean, minimalistic lines, but embodying power and quality.

Many of my clients are women who love distinguished objects, with meaning and depth.

My jewelry is on display in various museums and art galleries, as well as at the ALIT gallery store on the pedestrian mall at 2 Bezalel Street, Jerusalem, where you can meet with the artist and enjoy warm hospitable conversation over a cup of coffee.
